The Queanbeyan side won the toss and sent Eastlake in. With the format of the match seeing Eastlake face 25 overs, then Queanbeyan 25 overs and then on the Sunday the reverse, a good start to the match was essential. The Mighty Bluebags responded with a superb opening bowling display to restrict the visitors to 5/41 from their allotted 25 overs.
Queanbeyan got off to the best possible start with the bat and whilst the scoring was slow and steady the first part of the innings finished with a flurry and Queanbeyan were 0/88 overnight.
The Sunday morning saw captain, Sam Frost and youngster Blake Faunce both retire at 50 having added 112 for the 1st wicket. Really useful contributions from Elijh Deveau-Patterson (22), Jasper Haskins (13no) and Jordan Gilbert (11) left Queanbeyan at 8/199 from their 50 overs and Eastlake needing 160 from their remaining 25 overs.
The task proved too much for the interstate rivals and at the conclusion of their 50 overs the scoreline read 9/136 and a comfortable win for Queanbeyan by 63 runs.
For the Bluebags Ryan Deardon took 2 wickets whilst all other bowlers played their part. Brad Millynn was at his fiery best, Eli Brennan, Max Hunter and Jackson Miller all produced excellent spells with their wily spinners and Ben Thurling, Harry Litchfield and Josh Fahey were both accurate and threatening.
The lads had played brilliantly all season and the effort from each and every player was tremendous and the premiership thoroughly deserved.
